PAPHOS CLASSIC VEHICLE CLUB

ΟΜΙΛΟΣ ΚΛΑΣΙΚΩΝ ΟΧΗΜΑΤΩΝ ΠΑΦΟΥ

Welcome To the paphos classic vehicle club

The Paphos Classic Vehicle Club is for everyone who owns or has an interest in old cars and motorcycles and, although based in Paphos, it draws its members from all over Cyprus and all ethnic backgrounds.

The Paphos Classic Vehicle Club was formed in 2004 by several people with an interest in Classic Vehicles and the Classic Car movement generally.  This followed an advertisement placed in the local paper in April 2003 by the man who became the first Club President, Yiorgos Koutsides.  The meetings started at the Sense Café in Coral Bay then moved to the Tasmaria Hotel Apartments on Tomb of the Kings Road.
In those days it was a  group of classic car enthusiasts meeting on the 3rd Saturday in the month and organizing a leisurely drive on a Sunday and finishing with lunch at a taverna, which is pretty much the same as we do today.

We are the now longest established classic vehicle club in Paphos District and the only one officially registered with the authorities as an association.

What is a Classic Vehicle?
Any vehicle which was manufactured more than 30 years ago, is preserved and maintained in an historically correct condition and is not used as a means of daily transport is recognised by FIVA, the International governing body of Classic Cars, as being a classic vehicle.

If you own such a vehicle in Cyprus and want it to be recognised by FIVA then PCVC has an inspector approved by OKAK (the Cypriot representatives of FIVA) who can inspect your car and help with the inspection and approval process.  They can also advise on importation procedures, if you wish to bring a classic car from overseas.

What cars are owned by Club members?
There are all sorts of cars presently within the club, from high end luxury cars, such as BMWs, Jaguars, Mercedes, and even Rolls Royces, to what were every day runabouts, like the Morris Minor and Austin 7. They also include exotic Alfa Romeos, Lotus and Morgan sports cars, weird and wonderful Citroen 2CVs, and humble Minis and 1100s. There is also a number of American classics.

The Members of PCVC hold a wealth of knowledge of classic cars, which they freely share with each other. This includes historical and technical information, maintenance and repair advice, the sourcing of parts and practical assistance with repairs and restoration. Their aim is to keep our motoring heritage where it belongs, on the road.

Currently we have approximately 200 members. Not all members actually own a classic vehicle, and some that do are in the process of restoring them and use their ‘modern’ vehicles in the meantime.

We usually hold our monthly social meeting at Periklis Tavern, Nata on the third Saturday of the month from 15.30 onwards, and at Tea 4 Two, Poseidonos Avenue, Geroskipou on the first Saturday of the month we have our "Classic Breakfast" from 08.30am.

We try to have a run out most months for all vehicles, which may or may not incorporate a quiz, treasure hunt or something similar and they are organised by the club members.  Impromptu runs out for the classic cars are also held in the summer either in the evening or when there is a break in the heat.

During the year we also get involved in various rallies and more dynamic events for those members who look for a little bit more excitement.
