Paphos Classic vehicle Club in conjunction with Geroskipou Municipality makes history in staging its own first EVER Rally starting from the town's square. This could well be the start of an annual event for our communities, using the latest technology from Events Racing Solutions.
Some encouraging words from our chairman, Steve
Hello everyone, I want to thank all those who participated and helped with our 1st Winter Classic Event in Geroskipou. This club is amazing and it is amazing because of its members. It was great that some of our newer members were actively involved and enjoyed the experience. We now can look forward to starting our 20th anniversary year with a fabulous car show and rally next January. The Mayor and the Municipality were extremely supportive and indicated they were pleased with what we arranged. Thank you to Petros and his team for organising the Rally with the latest technology and it was GREAT to see all the non-club members who participated as well!!. I want to say that they are always welcome. This club really goes from strength to strength. PCVC Forever Kind regards Steve 23/01/2023

A few paragraphs from club member Lilian about rallying .
Lilian Hayball-Clarke. " I live in Limassol, and when I joined PCVC last year, I was captured by the sheer beauty of the Classic cars I saw. They had arrived with their owners from Paphos for a Cyprus rally. I had inherited a love of all cars and a love of driving from my father William Hayball, and from my late husband Michael Clarke, and his father Sydney, (among others). I (and they), have owned and driven a variety of cars, many of which I am delighted to see displayed in Dimis Mavropoulos' Cyprus Motor Museum in Limassol. Since my husband passed 6 years ago I have decided to honour his memory by involving myself in car rallying. As an avid Driver I have sought a Navigator to rally with me - they are a rare breed, and have almost always partnered up. But fortune favours the brave, and I have have been incredibly successful, although my recent navigators were lost variously through travel, illness or other interruption. Does my sheer competitive intensity drive them away ? I hope not! Anke van Weele, a Dutch girl, competent although new to rallying, is interested to be my navigator in Cyprus now. I am so superbly welcomed and supported by the Cyprus PCVC - hands together for Steve Wilkinson and his team ( special thanks to Trish and Don) - and to Dimis Mavropoulos, owner and marvellous philanthropist at the Cyprus Motor Museum.
I shall involve myself in these Clubs for as long as possible, despite Covid, since there is so much love, fabulous company, and fun to be gained with you all, thank you so much! My Mike Clarke would approve I know!
Long live PCVC! ... and the Museum! Lilian 07. 12. 21"

1st Limassol Anti-Cancer Classic Regularity Challenge - 8th November LIKOK
One of our more recent members, Geof along with John Raine took up the above challenge. This is what Geof had to say about the day's event:
"Suffice it to say we did not win but we didn't come last; 24 out of 34, but then we did completely miss what we believe was one check in point. That and us taking a short cut or in our case a long cut and struggling to find our way back. I could say in our defense that it was very confusing and posed some organisational challenges, or to put it politely it was down to the quality of the navigator who has just damaged his previous reputation. Such things as the marshals who parked us up at a break so we were unable to get out at anything near our allotted time and us discovering five minutes before the start that page 3 of our road book was missing plus being issued with some timing amendments as we started. We weren’t alone as the number 1 car, the 1931 Ford, driven by Christopher Koutsakos, also had page 3 missing but not discovered until after the start and had to follow us for a short period until he got back to the right page in his book. Since he was not trying to be competitive either he wasn't too bothered.
I will keep reminding myself it was for the fun of it. Of course it was.
John did get a second prize in the Concours d’elegance, and we both got some very salty pizza and lots of nibbles and drinks on the way. You will see in the pictures that the 1931 Ford took 1st place on that.
John and I both felt we would not want to participate in an in town only event again. It was fun but too complicated and confusing both in its route and its organisation. From my limited experience and John’s much greater we both preferred the largely out of town events.
Happy for you to use any or all of my comments for the newsletter. Whilst John and I discussed our views on the way back and our opinions were very similar the comments I make above are entirely my own and my responsibility.
Regards
Geof"
Thank you Geof for your interesting article and the photos you took of the day.

International Regularity Challenge 28/6/2020 LIKOK
After the event had been postponed due to Covid 19 lockdown, the second event of this years PSALTIS AUTOPARTS - ENEOS PREMIUM MOTOR OILS, the Classic Car Championship went ahead on this day. A good turn out again from PCVC, we gathered at the Motor Museum, Limassol for a 10am start. The weather was very hot! Our first stop was inland by Pera Pedi at the Shell fuel station, Trimiklini. Unfortunately Robert and Mary Bearns retired at this stage as his mini had a clutch failure. We then left for the final stop at Ta Tria Pefka Restaurant, Koilana Village, where we enjoyed a splendid buffet lunch. The Final Results were then published, with large trophies for the top 3 winners; in first place was Georgios Papageorgiou and co-driver Linda Mousoulides, in second place our very own club Secretary Richard Griffiths with co-driver Sue Griffiths, and in third place our club Chairman Steve Wilkinson and co-driver (club Treasurer), Marylin Wilkinson. Colin and Linda Upton picked up 8th place and Don and Trish Sainsbury 9th. Well done PCVC! A huge thank you to Dimi, Svetlena, the Likok team and `Time Keepersfor a super day.

Councours d'elegance, Onar Village, Kyrenia 6th -8th September 2019
A small group of 4 cars met early on Friday morning at Santa Barbara in Argaka to begin our adventure to the 5th Concours Classica in Kyrenia. We had a fairly short journey to Kato Pyrgos where we stopped , sorted out insurances and grabbed a coffee. The crossing over the border was quick and painless and this time Richard managed to navigate over the last speed bump without losing his exhaust. We then continued on towards Kyrenia via Morfou keeping a close eye out for speed cameras as well as enjoying the lovely sea views and the ever- changing countryside. Arrival at Onar village was just before 1 o’clock and once booked in we all enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the covered terrace while waiting for others to arrive. A lovely cool breeze and lack of humidity made a welcome change from Paphos and the Effes beer slipped down easily. During the afternoon a number of other classic cars arrived including the remainder of the Paphos club contingent, consisting of 12 club members and 8 guests. The evening was spent down at Kyrenia harbour where we were able to sample good food , fine wines and even more Effes with a backdrop of the castle and fishing boats. Saturday dawned clear and bright and the morning was spent preening cars, shopping or just relaxing in the pool. Classic cars continued to arrive throughout the day and judging started around 5 o’clock. The Gala dinner around the pool was an excellent buffet and was followed by the organiser’s speeches and awards. The club once again had great success with members’ cars receiving awards in the following categories: Best British car 1st Richard Griffiths Morgan +8 2nd Steve Edwards Rolls Royce Best German car 1st Ian Frith Mercedes 180SL Best Japanese car 1st Neil Wishart Toyota Supra We would like to thank Tamer for once again inviting us to the event and The Chairman received a presentation plaque on behalf of the attending club members. We would like to thank Mehmet and the Onar Village team for making us so welcome and keeping us fed and watered for the 3 days we were there. On a final note, if you haven’t yet attended this event you are missing a treat. It’s a great way to spend down time with like minded people, surrounded by classic cars in a lovely setting. So clear a space in your diary in September 2020 for the 6th Concours Classica at Onar Village. Sue Griffiths
